Maëva’s body was found in a pool, in the port area of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), we learned France Blue Normandy to the public prosecutor of Le Havre, Bruno Dieudonné, Tuesday January 2 in the evening, confirming information from BFM-TV. The family identified the body this evening.
The 23-year-old young woman had been missing in Le Havre since New Year’s Eve. The Le Havre public prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation into “disturbing disappearance”.
Maëva went out to celebrate the new year with friends. She was last seen around 4 a.m., during the night from Sunday to Monday, in the Decathlon des Docks Vauban parking lot and did not return home afterward.
“It was his two friends who contacted the police”
According to the young woman’s brother, Christophe, contacted by France Blue Normandy and by franceinfo, his sister had gone out to the nightclub district near the docks of Le Havre to celebrate the New Year with two friends. Still according to Maëva’s brother, the group then separated. The two friends in question arrived at the young woman’s apartment. Not seeing her arrive, they called her. Maëva told them she was coming but never went through the door of the apartment. According to Maëva’s big sister, Stéphanie, “It was his two friends who contacted the police”.
His family had published a call for witnesses on social networks and in the media.
