A heavy requisition. In a press release, published Wednesday March 6, the Madrid region prosecutor’s office announced that it “claims four years and nine months in prison” against the coach of the Merengue club, accused of having defrauded the Spanish public treasury of more than one million euros over the years 2014 and 2015 by failing to declare his income from his image rights. The amount of the offense amounts precisely to 1,062,079 euros during the financial years 2014 (386,361 euros) and 2015 (675,718 euros)

This is the Spanish media Revelo who was the first to report the sentence incurred by the former Paris Saint-Germain coach. “Although he himself declared that he was a tax resident in Spain and indicated that his domicile was in Madrid, he only indicated in his tax declarations the personal remuneration received from Real Madrid”, details the press release. The technician did not mention the services corresponding to the exploitation of his image rights, the prosecution even saying that he “‘simulated the transfer of its image rights to entities ‘devoid of real activity'” domiciled outside Spain.

Madrid prosecutor’s office says Carlo Ancelotti used a network “complex and confusing” of trusts and companies to avoid being subject to tax on image rights income. After being fired by the Merengue club at the end of the 2015 season, Ancelotti then had experiences at Bayern Munich, Naples, Everton, before returning to the Real Madrid bench in the summer of 2021.

At 64, the Italian has four Champions League titles, as well as numerous national coronations, including that of French champion in 2013 with Paris Saint-Germain.
