“An unforgettable concert on one of the most beautiful stages in the world”. In a press release published on the American artist’s website, the free concert is presented as the “bigger” concert never given “so far” by the singer. This event will mark Madonna’s big return to Brazil, where she last performed in 2012.

This immense show will be her only concert in South America as part of this tour, which marks her 40-year career, and for which she has performed in more than a dozen countries. It will also be the only free concert of the Celebration Tour. According to the press release, it is intended to thank his Brazilian fans.

More than a million spectators

During a press conference, the organizers explained that this concert will require logistics similar to that of the traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks show. Given on the occasion of New Year’s Eve on Copacabana beach, the show attracts at least a million people each year. In 2006, a Rolling Stones concert in Copacabana attracted between 1.2 and 1.5 million people, according to estimates.

The pop icon, winner of seven Grammy Awards, is currently on tour in North America. Upcoming April dates include three concerts in Miami and five at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, the only Latin American stop before Rio.
