The Ankazobe massacre occurred on Friday morning. Thirty-two villagers were killed by the attackers. Fifteen children, their fathers and mothers were trying to flee the hut, set on fire by the criminals when they were shot. Three suspects were arrested. Gendarmerie squadrons were sent as reinforcements.

A dispute between villagers would be at the origin of the dramatic news item that took place on Friday July 29, 2022 at dawn, a hundred kilometers north-northwest of Antananarivo.

For 48 hours, Madagascar has been in shock. Thirty-two villagers, including fifteen children, were coldly killed by dahalo. This tragedy took place in Ambolotarakely, a village in the district of Ankazobe. Four people had escaped the assailants, but unfortunately one of them, very old, died in hospital.

The gendarmes of the sector received reinforcements from the capital. Two helicopters flew over the area in search of criminals, as of Friday, Madagascar-Tribune tells us. Three suspects were arrested. They were identified by one of the few survivors. This witness recognized some of the attackers. He explained to investigators that these crimes were linked to a land dispute.

The President of the Republic, Andry Rajoelina, in person follows the evolution of this tragic news item. Beyond the heinous crimes, it is the method used by the executioners that is chilling.

According to the survivors, the seven families targeted had taken refuge in the attic of a brick house located in the center of the village. They had installed mattresses in front of the doors and windows, specifies Midi-Madagascar.

To get the victims out, the criminals set fire to the building. The occupants, asphyxiated, were murdered, one after the other, leaving their refuge.

Immediately after the announcement of this massacre, everyone imagined that the dahalo had killed the villagers to take over their herds of zebus. Logically, so many villages in this region near the capital have been stormed by the dahalo. This time, obviously, one of the community members called on them. One of the survivors has also designated the sponsor and recognized several accomplices, as explained by L’Express de Madagascar.
