Madagascar: the French ambassador negotiates with Europe the price of a kilo of vanilla

The French ambassador to Madagascar, Christophe Bouchard, is about to leave. His successor should be Arnaud Guillois, ex-ambassador of France in Djibouti. Before flying off, the diplomat supports the European Union ambassador in negotiating the price of a kilo of vanilla.



Last weekend, Christophe Bouchard, the French ambassador for three years, wanted to inform in person, the President, Andry Rajoelina.

His stay was marked by the kéréthe Covid crisis, the passage of devastating cyclones, economic difficulties and the island dossier Scattered. At the end of this stay, many books remain open.

His successor should be Arnaud Guillois, former French ambassador to Djibouti. Its essential mission will be to bring to a successful conclusion the discussions concerning the shared management of the Scattered Islands. The second meeting should take place in the coming days, specifies Madagascar-Tribune.

Before flying away, the French ambassador, still in place, takes part in the discussions initiated by Isabelle Delattre-Burgerthe new ambassador of the European Union, with the Minister of Industrialization, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Edgard Razafindravahy.

It is about cooperation between Europe and the five member countries of theAFOA (Madagascar, Comoros, Zimbabwe, Mauritius and Seychelles).

At the heart of the discussions: vanilla. The minister of Ile Rouge wants the price per kilo to be purchased at $250 by European countries, writes L’Express de Madagascar.
