Macron meets with Ukrainian Defense Minister in Paris on Tuesday

Emmanuel Macron, who has not ruled out “in principle” the delivery of fighter jets to Ukraine, will receive Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov on Tuesday at the Elysee Palace, the French presidency announced in a press release.

He will also meet the president of the Rada, the Parliament of Ukraine, Rouslan Stefantchouk, who must speak before the National Assembly at 3 p.m., then Wednesday before the senators.

Emmanuel Macron will receive Oleksiy Reznikov “at the end of the afternoon”, around 6:30 p.m., said the entourage of the head of state.

The purpose of this meeting is “to reiterate its full support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion and to recall France’s readiness to meet the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces”, specifies the press release.

French Minister for the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu is also due to meet his Ukrainian counterpart during the day.

Asked Monday in The Hague about a possible dispatch of combat planes to Kyiv, Emmanuel Macron indicated that there were “criteria” before any decision: a “request made” by Ukraine, that this “not be escalatory » and that « it does not come to weaken the capacity of the French army to protect its own soil ».

Paris set the same conditions for the possible dispatch of Leclerc tanks.
