Mac Jones will return to his position with the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots didn’t hesitate to sit quarterback Mac Jones on the bench in favor of Bailey Zappe during their crushing 33-14 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday. Jones should nevertheless maintain his role as a starter in the coming weeks.

This is what ESPN learned on Wednesday, adding that Jones participated in nearly 90% of the day’s exercises in the first unit.

The first round choice (15th overall) of the “Pats” in 2021 was only used during the first three sequences on the attack of his team, before giving way to Zappe. Head coach Bill Belichick, however, informed Jones and Zappe that they would both see action, as Jones was playing his first game since Sept. 25, recovering from an ankle injury. Belichick even added that Jones could have come back in the second half if the score had been tighter.

The Patriots will continue their 2022 campaign on Sunday, stopping at MetLife Stadium to face the New York Jets.
