Two out of two. Olympique Lyonnais won against St. PöltenWednesday November 22, during the second day of the Champions League (2-0). Enough to add three more points after the very large victory against Slavia Prague (9-0) eight days ago. Danielle van de Donk scored the first goal of the match very quickly, with a header from a cross from Selma Bacha (4th). OL took the break after returning from the locker room thanks to a grotesque own goal from Leonarda Balog (47th).
The Fenottes could have achieved a bigger victory as their domination was outrageous (65% possession for OL), but they lacked lucidity in the last gesture (35 shots and only 2 goals). The Austrian team had very few opportunities to come back to score (4 shots, none on target).
With this success, Sonia Bompastor’s players consolidate first place in group B with six points, while St Pölten brings up the rear with no points scored. Lyon will return to D1 Arkema on Sunday facing Guingamp, before a period of international truce. We will have to wait until December 13 for OL’s next outing in C1, at home against the Norwegian club Brann.
