An auction like no other was held on Friday, November 4, at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Economy. In all, 350 objects, often luxurious, were offered for sale after being seized by the customs services.
Buyers were not arguing over ordinary objects on Friday, November 4 at the Ministry of the Economy. In the air floats like a detective scent. Many lots sold come from traffic. A car was used during a drug transport, ingots were seized at the Gare du Nord from passengers, rough diamonds were found in the lining of a garment. In the public, there are many curious people, attracted by the history of these objects.
These exceptional auctions brought in 1.3 million euros to Bercy, significantly more than the initial forecasts. Sales for the benefit of the State which have multiplied for a few years in France with the key for the ministry, increasing revenues. In 2019, they brought in nearly 12.5 million euros, 13.7 in 2020 and more than 19 million in 2021. Today, a truck was sold for the modest sum of 90,000 euros so that its owner could put it back on the right track.
