Lush | Cosmetics retailer cuts staff in Canada

(Vancouver) Cosmetics brand Lush says it will lay off staff as it scales back operations at its Vancouver facility.

Amanda Caruso, a spokeswoman for the U.K.-based brand, cited privacy concerns in declining to say how many workers will lose their jobs as part of the company’s cuts to its Canadian footprint.

She did confirm, however, that the downsizing will result in the closure of a woodworking shop in British Columbia that the brand operated and that manufacturing operations in Vancouver will be transferred to Toronto.

Mme Caruso argued that these measures are aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring the long-term success of the brand.

She said the changes will not have an immediate impact on Lush stores, its online store or its app services and said some employees will be relocated or transferred to new roles.

She added that the changes should be finalized by February 26.
