It is already fire in Rennes. The 43rd edition of the Trans Musicales festival began on December 1 in Brittany and continues until December 5. The program is as usual very eclectic, from rock to electro through hip-hop.
Among the gems to discover this year, we can cite the young Breton rapper Lujipeka (on stage Sunday December 5 at 5.15 p.m.). He will play at home and come out of a stay in residence to prepare his performance on the Trans scene. A France 3 team followed him in this meticulous preparation during which he met some of his fans, during a concert at the Théâtre de l’Aire Libre, a stone’s throw from Rennes. “I like the idea of really putting on a show, being able to do it every day and set a challenge for yourself. Because it’s something different playing in front of people who don’t know me. It’s a change from the usual tour. “, says the rapper.
On stage Lujipeka mixes his rap with touches of rock and electro. “I still keep a rap base, but when it comes to mixing genres, I don’t set any limits for myself. There is plenty to explore”.
In the very rich program of this weekend, there is also the presence of the London punk group Bob Vylan (December 3 at 11:40 pm). VShe London duo creates the abrasive soundtrack of a proletarian and social revolt across the Channel. “More hardcore than fellow Sleaford Mods, Bob Vylan (pronounce “Villain” in the English way, like the villains in the comics) sheds an aggressive light on racism, police brutality, gentrification and poverty in a Britain that no longer has anything great “, according to the presentation made by the Trans Musicales.
This Friday evening, we also advise you, at a time that is better suited to the early bird, the concert of the Malagasy rock group Loharano. In the footsteps of their compatriots Dizzy Brains, who put Rennes in turmoil in 2015, the Malagasy rockers will shower the public with their heavy metal tinged with the typical rhythms of the island.
For the evening of Saturday, December 4, there will be the post-punk quartet Folly Group (9:15 p.m.), or in a very different style the Luso-Angolan hip-hop group Ikoqwe (1:40). You can also find in replay on the Culturebox player the concerts of the previous days, including the performance of Yann Tiersen, who played Thursday in front of the Rennes audience.
