Kylian Mbappé is a man “liberated and relieved”. It was he who said it, Tuesday June 4, at a press conference before the Blues’ friendly match against Luxembourg, Wednesday June 5. The captain of the Blues did not fail to mention the difficulties he encountered during his last season with Paris Saint-Germain.
“I think I attacked this season with a different ambition, with different demands, because I always thought I wasn’t going to playsaid the brand new Real Madrid player. Even though I had better seasons, it was the most difficult to play and I am proud to have played it. Technically, it is perhaps a little lower than my standards. But when I see everything I had to go through, I’m happy and I think it’s the best season of my career.”
Asked to go further on what he felt he had suffered, Kylian Mbappé attested to having been threatened with being prevented from playing: “They said it to my face, they spoke to me violently. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. I wouldn’t have set foot on the field again without them. It’s the truth, that’s why I’ve always had this recognition from the coach and the sports director.”
