Luggage retailer Bentley has agreed to be sold to Quebec businessman Paul Nassar, court filings show.
Although the value and most terms of the deal were not disclosed, the documents indicate that Mr. Nassar will buy all of Bentley’s assets, assume most of its leases and provide jobs to most of its staff.
Montreal-based retailer Bentley has about 700 employees and 130 stores across Canada selling luggage, handbags, backpacks and other accessories.
Paul Nassar owns the Hart chain, which originally owned the Mega Furniture and Wholesale Home retailers, and recently purchased the Korvette discount stores.
The decision to sell Bentley to Mr Nassar came after owner HUK 94 was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions and a ransomware attack in October 2023.
Court filings show that HUK 94’s owner and turnaround specialist Hilco Canada agreed to begin looking for a buyer for Bentley on June 17.
Bentley and Paul Nassar did not respond to requests for comment.
