Ludovic Louis, born in Le Havre, looks back on his most beautiful love story: his encounter with the trumpet when he was only eight years old. This discovery led him to the international scene, alongside the biggest celebrities. But it is in his native life that he finds his haven of peace.
Between melodies and melancholy, Ludovic Louis made his comeback in France. He returned to the stage of the Magic Mirror in Le Havre on November 12 for an emotional concert. It was here that he was born and took his first steps in music before becoming the famous trumpeter that we know. Back to his first steps…
The trumpet or nothing
A child from the streets of Le Havre, Ludovic Louis has been lulled by music since he was very young. From his first steps, he juggled between nursery rhymes, accomplice nonsense with his sister, shouting at the football stadium, and the conservatory. It was with the first clumsy gestures on a piano, at the age of five, that his musical passion germinated. His fingers stretch, the first learnings at the Jupo school, and his teacher Alain Loisel reveals to Ludovic the power of the trumpet. Breathing with all his might to create marvelous symphonies was his greatest magic trick. That same evening, when he returned home, he had made his choice: “playing the trumpet, that’s what I want to do.” A choice that will sculpt his musical destiny.
From Le Havre to Hollywood
In 2001, Ludovic left the shores of Le Havre for the cobblestones of Paris. Arriving in the capital, he frequented the clubs and stages which were willing to listen to him. In 10 years, the dream came true, he crossed paths with successful artists. From Jimmy Cliff to Florent Pagny, until the pivotal meeting in 2009 with Lenny Kravitz.
Ludovic follows in the wake of the man he considers his master. He absorbs the nuts and bolts of recording albums, concert preparations, touring and the necessary rigor of daily life. “It shaped my way of working!” The trumpeter migrated to the United States and displayed his talent there alongside Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas and The Meters. Success awaits for little Norman, set out to triumph.
When he returns to his hometown to do a home concert, the emotion is always the same. With tears in his eyes, he concluded:
“I talk about it, I get chills, I can’t describe what it’s like to play here, it’s great, I’m at home.”
