Lucien-L’Allier station closed from April 1

Work aimed at giving a facelift to the Lucien-L’Allier train station in Montreal will begin on 1er next April. Users of three Exo lines will then be forced to continue their journey by metro or bus if they want to go to downtown Montreal for a period of six to twelve months.

The last renovations of this station went back almost 50 years, for the 1976 Olympic Games, Exo said on Wednesday. “The current state of deterioration of the station platforms represents a major obstacle to the quality of service and requires increasingly frequent maintenance interventions in order to keep the platforms in operational condition,” estimates the transport company which manages the commuter train network in the Montreal region.

The announced project will allow the reconstruction of the station’s four platforms, deemed to be at the end of their useful life, the addition of a canopy to protect users from bad weather and the installation of emergency exits.

Boarding and disembarking will no longer be possible at Lucien-L’Allier station for six months for line 11-Vaudreuil-Hudson and for 12 months for lines 12-Saint-Jérôme and 14-Candiac. Therefore, users of lines 11-Vaudreuil-Hudson and 14-Candiac will have to stop at Vendôme station and take the metro to the station of the same name to continue their journey. For their part, users of line 12-Saint-Jérôme will have to get off or board at Parc station, located near the Parc metro station. Exo specifies that certain trains on line 12-Saint-Jérôme will go to Montréal-Ouest station to serve students and workers in the sector.

“Exo has chosen the scenario which limits as much as possible the impacts for local residents and users, while ensuring sound management of public funds,” argued Sylvain Yelle, general manager of the company, in a press release. . “On completion of the work, our customers will be able to benefit from a modern, safer and more comfortable station. »

The ticket office at Lucien-L’Allier station will be closed for the duration of the work, but the vending machines located there will remain accessible, explains Exo. Users will also be able to obtain their transport tickets in person at the Central station as well as the Parc and Vendôme stations. Exo also ensures that all access to the Bell Center will be maintained.
