Lucid Air GT Performance: a 1050 horsepower electric monster

With 520 copies of the launch Dream Edition having already found takers, Lucid is adding a new top-of-the-range version to its Air electric luxury sedan.

Just above the Grand Touring is therefore the Grand Touring Performance, which increases the power from 819 to 1,050 horsepower – 30 more than the Tesla Model S Plaid. The time announced by Lucid for the 0-100 km/h sprint is 2.6 seconds, which is still five tenths slower than its rival.

In terms of autonomy, the new Performance version is set back from the regular Grand Touring with 718 kilometers according to estimates instead of 830, but it is still far superior to the 652 kilometers of the Model S. Thanks to its architecture electric 900 volts, 21 minutes will be enough to regain 480 kilometers of autonomy via an ultra fast charging station of 350 kilowatts. Good luck finding any, though.

“The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance is a response to the strong demand we continue to receive for high performance versions of the Lucid Air,” said CEO Peter Rawlinson.

First class equipment

The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance is obviously packed with standard amenities. The list includes, among other things, a huge glass roof, doors and trunks with power opening/closing, a 34-inch digital interface with 5K resolution for instrumentation and infotainment, heated/ventilated front seats with massage as well as technology DreamDrive Pro semi-autonomous driving system from Lucid.

Unlike the Grand Touring, which offers 19-inch wheels to maximize range, the Grand Touring Performance version is only available with 21-inch wheels. The Aero Sport style of these is moreover exclusive.

Finally, note that customers can choose from four interior decor themes: Santa Cruz, Tahoe, Mojave and Mojave PurLuxe.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance is listed at $242,000, up $53,000 from the Grand Touring. Deliveries to Canada will begin in August. As with all other versions, charging will be free for two years on the Electrify Canada network of stations.

Following the Vancouver and Toronto stores already inaugurated, Lucid plans to open one in the greater Montreal area later in 2022.
