He imitated his big brother, swimmer Ugo Didier, by climbing onto the box. Lucas Didier brought the French delegation its 72nd medal by winning, on Saturday, September 7, silver after his heavy defeat (11-9, 11-7, 11-7) against the Belgian and world number one Laurens Devos, in the table tennis final, MS9 category.
The young Frenchman had achieved a great feat in the semi-finals, by eliminating the Australian Ma Lin, world number 2, after being led two sets to one while he had only conceded one in his first two matches. At 21, the native of Chesnay (Yvelines) won the first Paralympic medal of his young career, two years after the bronze at the world championships. This is the sixth medal for French para table tennis, the first that is not bronze.
