Luka Rocco Magnotta, guilty of killing a young foreign student in 2012, is now detained in a medium security prison, according to information from the Toronto Sun.
Magnotta is now serving his sentence at La Macaza, a medium security establishment located in the Hautes-Laurentides, reports the Ontario daily. This is the same penitentiary as serial killer Paul Bernado.
Magnotta, 41, is serving a life sentence for the premeditated murder of Chinese student Jun Lin, which occurred in Montreal in 2012.
He was until now incarcerated at the Port-Cartier penitentiary, a maximum security establishment. Luka Rocco Magnotta had already seen his transfer request refused in 2022.
According to information obtained by the Toronto Sunthe transfer would have been authorized due to the numerous specialized treatments requested by the killer, who identifies as a transgender person and now goes by the name Violette.
