“LR has shown that it is not a solid partner”, considers a Horizons deputy

Frédéric Valletoux also affirmed on franceinfo “that no Horizons deputy will vote” the motions of censure tabled against the government.

“LR has shown that he is not a solid partner in this pension deal”said Friday March 17 on franceinfo Frédéric Valletoux, deputy of the presidential majority party Horizons of Seine-et-Marne, the day after the 49.3 triggered by the government on the pension reform, and while Rachida Dati put forward the idea of one “government agreement” between Les Républicains and Emmanuel Macron.

“I think this is a subject that the President of the Republic should not exclude”believes Frédéric Valletoux, who emphasizes that he has not “heard” the declaration of the President of the National Council of Republicans. “From the moment when we know that we are a relative majority and that finding a majority is complicated, what government contract are we offering to solid partners?”asks the deputy Horizons. “LR still needs to be a solid partner.”

The government’s speech “may have lacked relevance”

Frédéric Valletoux acknowledges that there was “probably a difficulty in explaining this reform to the French” and that the government’s speech has “perhaps irrelevant”. But the majority left “from the assumption that we had a reliable and strong partner in the person of LR”. But the Republicans “showed themselves divided between the senators and the deputies, and within the group in the National Assembly”. “When you make an agreement with a partner, you expect all the stakeholders to go through with the agreement. And that was not the case.”

After the pension reform, Frédéric Valletoux believes that he “will undoubtedly need a new government contract, it will perhaps be necessary to clarify what are the reforms to come, so as to lay out upstream the contours of a government pact which is stronger, with clearer majorities”. “This episode is not an episode for nothing”adds the deputy Horizons. “Monday, life cannot go on as if nothing had happened.”

“No Horizons deputy will vote” the motions of censure

Asked whether Elisabeth Borne can remain at the head of the government, Frédéric Valletoux “don’t want to answer”. The Prime Minister has “carries out this pension reform with great rigor and loyalty”. According to him, she has “Drawn a political scheme which was to lead to this agreement with LR which should have actually gone to the end, with a lot of transparency”. But it’s up to Emmanuel Macron “to judge what is its capacity for action for the months to come”.

Frédéric Valletoux finally ensures “that no Horizons MP will vote” the motions of censure tabled against the government, “very clearly, very firmly.”
