LPHF | Toronto secures first overall place

(Toronto) Natalie Spooner scored two goals and helped the Toronto club secure first place in the LPHF standings with a 4-1 victory over Minnesota on Wednesday.


Toronto (12-4-0-7) is ahead of Montreal (10-3-5-5) in the standings and has the advantage in the tiebreaker. Both teams still have one game to play before the end of the regular schedule.

Thanks to its rank, Toronto will be able to choose who it will face in the first elimination round between the team having finished in third place or the one having taken fourth place.

Hannah Miller and Emma Maltais, in an empty net, also scored for Toronto, which won a third game in a row. Kristen Campbell made 25 saves.

Spooner leads the league with 18 goals and 25 points. Maltais also had two assists and climbed to the top of the LPHF with 15 assists.

Michela Cava responded for Minnesota (8-4-3-8), which needed a point to secure a playoff berth and third place. Maddie Rooney stopped 19 shots.
