LPHF | Minnesota team wins Walter Cup

(Lowell) Team Minnesota won the championship of the inaugural season of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (LPHF) Wednesday night, winning 3-0 against Boston in the fifth and final game of the Cup final Walter.




Nicole Hensley blocked 17 pucks to record the shutout.

Liz Schepers scored in the second period, Michela Cava made it 2-0 midway through the third period and Kendall Coyne finished in an empty net with two minutes remaining.

Cava came around the net and managed to put the puck between Frankel’s pads.

Hensley, who has competed in two Olympic Games, earned his second shutout of the playoffs. She had made one in 14 starts during the season.

Boston goalkeeper Aerin Frankel made 41 saves.

Boston had forced the presentation of a final match thanks to Alina Muller’s goal in the second overtime, in the fourth game.
