The Minnesota squad (9-4-3-9) ended a seven-game losing streak, while Toronto saw its winning streak end at six.
Toronto had won its previous five games against Minnesota, dating back to a 3-1 loss at the Xcel Energy Center on January 10.
Maddie Rooney stopped 18 shots to record her third shutout this season.
