LPHF: Boston wins 3-2 and eliminates Montreal

Susanna Tapani scored her second goal of the series 1:02 into the first overtime period to give Boston a 3-2 victory over Montreal on Tuesday night at the Tsongas Center.

With the win, Boston swept its three-of-five semifinal series with three overtime wins. Boston now awaits the winners of the series between Toronto and Minnesota.

Tapani’s goal, his second decisive in overtime, was achieved after a save by Ann-Renée Desbiens on a shot by Alina Müller.

Completely alone to the left of Desbiens, Tapani had no difficulty pushing the puck into the back of the net to secure the victory.

This goal capped a comeback of three goals by Boston in the third period, those of Sophie Shirley and Amanda Pelkey, the latter scored at 16:17, shorthanded.

In the defeat, Marie-Philip Poulin led the charge with a goal and an assist against Aerin Frankel, who blocked 32 pucks.

Maureen Murphy scored the other goal for Montreal.
