Lozère launches “trail spaces” spread over the territory

With a territory suitable for running, the Lozère Departmental Council wants to get involved in the development of trail running. The community is currently working on setting up permanent routes in collaboration with the territories. In this context, the Department of Lozère entered into a contract last year with Yoomigo, a service provider specializing in the development and promotion of trail running on a national scale. This contract, worth nearly €60,000, includes the setting up of a website and a mobile application grouping together the marked trails.

A website and an application under construction

Objective: to create five to six “trail areas” spread over large natural regions. A “trail area” will bring together several routes of varying levels with a common starting point. The Department covers the costs related to the creation of routes (study of routes, land security, markup, promotion of the practice). The communities of municipalities are responsible for maintaining the routes. They can also animate these spaces.

Two trails starting from La Canourgue and three starting from Chanac are already marked. Two additional courses will soon be available from Les Vignes and Chanacas well as three “timed challenges”.
