Episodes of fine particle pollution are at the origin of the creation of low emission zones. Among them, Toulouse which was on pollution alert, Monday, February 13. But on the spot, the measure arouses more and more reluctance.

In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), almost the entire city has been closed to Crit’Air 4 and 5 vehicles for a month because of the low emission zone (ZFE). Gilles Albert lives outside the ZFE. To go see his friends in the evening, he uses his diesel car dating from 2001, category Crit’Air 4. “There, we arrive in the ZFE zone, I become a horrible delinquent in a car considered old and polluting. I think that there, it is not possible to accept something like that”he cursed.

More financial aid

The motorist could buy another car, but his own consumes little fuel and costs little to maintain. “If we want to reduce pollution, we must reduce the number of cars in the city and for that, we must develop public transport, cycle paths, car parks”, proposes Gilles Albert who cries out against injustice. Davy Petris also owns a vehicle that can no longer drive in the ZFE, but he cannot afford to buy a new car. A group is asking for more financial aid from the State to change vehicles.
