Worn by Pierre Niney, Stacey Martin and Benoît Magimel, the feature film “Lovers” tells the story of an impossible love. Actress and director Nicole Garcia signs her ninth film here.
Nicole Garcia is the first actress and director celebrated at the Cinémathèque française. Many film personalities, including Catherine Deneuve, applauded the team for their latest film, Lovers, in theaters Wednesday November 17th. They all came to pay homage to this very special filmmaker. “It didn’t have the head of a script, she sent me something, it was like a long novel“, said actor Pierre Niney, one of the headliners of his new feature film.
After eight films at the heart of human passions, between thriller and romantic drama, Nicole Garcia directed Lovers, a film that plunges us into a fatal love, devouring three characters. An electric romance, in three acts: Simon (Pierre Niney) and Lisa (played by Stacey Martin) live a burning passion, but a dramatic event will force them to put an end to it.
When their destinies meet again, Lisa is married to Léo (Benoît Magimel), a wealthy Swiss insurer. Thus begins a dark romance. “There is something of fate in the film, a repetition of things when the cards of death fall very quickly at the end of the first act, and we can see that despite the very green waters of the Indian Ocean , everything is already tinted black“, describes Nicole Garcia.
