Since September 2005, viewers have discovered many men and women farmers through Love is in the meadow, on M6. But there’s one they didn’t really get to know in season 5, in 2010.
That year, 12 farmers were presented during the portraits, including Yoann, who today spins the perfect love with Emmanuelle. Paul too had been introduced to viewers during the broadcast of the portraits. At the time, he was 32 years old and was a dairy cow breeder in Finistère. But surprise during the broadcast of the first episode, no trace of the Buddhist candidate. And no explanation had been given. Entertainment TV explained that his absence was due to a clash with production. Information to which Freemantle had quickly reacted to our colleagues.
Marie Genest, the artistic director, assured that he “there has never been a clash“with Paul. It is because he has received”zero letter” that the farmer was unable to continue this beautiful adventure which has allowed many participants to find love and start their families. She however specified that he had received six, but that all were “unusable“.”Five came from foreign countries, sent by people who were trying to obtain papers to come to France. And one of her friends had written to see if she was told he was getting mail.“, she confided.
Freemantle did not want to believe it and approached La Poste d’Issy-les-Moulineaux which receives the mail to find out if there had been a problem. Unfortunately for Paul, there were no mistakes. A situation he found hard to believe. “He didn’t take it very well. It’s true that he wanted to come to the mail distribution, but we explained to him that it was still a bit difficult for him. He finally figured it out“, continued Marie Genest.
If the situation had not been explained on the air, it was to protect Paul from this situation that the artistic director judged “quite humiliating“. No dispute in sight therefore, but Marie Genest admitted that the father of the farmer made “racist remarks” towards the presenter Karine Le Marchand. But the latter did not attach importance to it.
