Last February, Jean touched the hearts of viewers of Love is in the meadow. At 60, this breeder of suckler cows who works in the Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes region, father of three children, has experienced many hardships. Among them, his wife’s infidelity, which the latter had ended up confessing to him. A betrayal that had lasted a long time and a break from which the touching farmer had a lot of trouble recovering. But Jean hasn’t lost faith in love and it’s full of hope that he’s taking part in the 17th season of Love is in the meadow.
M6’s flagship program made its big comeback on Monday August 22 with the broadcast of the first speed dating. And there has been quite a change for Jean since the release of the portraits last winter. Such was not the surprise of Karine Le Marchand to discover that the farmer was no longer exactly the same man. On her advice, Jean had his teeth redone, a spectacular and successful change that had already been unveiled on the Instagram accounts of Love is in the meadow and M6, but of which Karine Le Marchand had, it seems, not yet been aware.
“You have beautiful teeth“, launched the host to the farmer when he arrived on the Parisian barge where the speed-datings took place. “Oh it’s beautiful, give me a smile“, continued the star of M6, happy that Jean took the plunge. “It’s beautiful, it’s natural“, she congratulated him, Jean having the desire to “present a little better“.
3 speed dating, 2 suitors chosen to go to the farm
Never been to Paris in his entire life, Jean had a mission of the utmost importance: to discover in real life the three suitors he had selected after reading the mail. His first face-to-face meeting, somewhat awkward, took place with Corinne, a young 63-year-old retiree living in Nancy, who was ultimately not selected by Jean.
Second suitor to meet Jean, Lawrence. Single for four years, having lived through many hardships – including two divorces and the loss of her parents at a young age – the 55-year-old contender caught the eye of agriculture when she mentioned work in a kindergarten. Gentleness, patience, tenderness… so many qualities expected by Jean, and the farmer was not mistaken. “It went better than I thought and I found it prettier now than in the photo. It was really beautiful“, concluded Jean at the end of their meeting, conquered.
Last contender to pass the speed dating stage, Nathalie, the cow breeder’s favorite. The short and platinum blonde cut of the latter, to the tunes of Annie Cordy, had pleased him a lot. After a rather cold first contact, the atmosphere finally relaxed between the farmer and the 55-year-old Grenoble woman, mother of a boyhardened by sentimental wounds.
So these are Laurence and Nathalie who were chosen by Jean to spend a few days with him on the farm. It remains to be seen whether the farmer with such a sensitive soul will be able to play the seduction card with his two guests….
