Louisiana university shooting kills one

(Washington) A shooting at a university campus in Louisiana left one dead and seven injured on Sunday, police said in the United States, days after another shooting that left one dead in the same faculty.



One of the victims of the latest shooting, which took place at 1 a.m. on the night of Saturday to Sunday, is a student at Grambling State University (GramFam), Louisiana police said. ‘one injured in critical condition.

The university posted a statement on Twitter saying the injured student was “being treated for non-life threatening injuries” and clarifying that the person killed was not registered at the facility.

This is the second fatal shooting in less than a week on this campus, but the two incidents are said to be unrelated.

A curfew has been declared for the night and until further notice, said the statement which also announces the cancellation of the annual football match, which is traditionally accompanied by parties.

“GramFam, it’s time to be fully united as we come together to comfort each other after this morning’s incident,” the facility tweeted earlier Sunday, before urging students not to not spread false information about the investigation.

“Louisiana state police are asking for help in locating suspect (s) in this shooting,” police said in a statement posted on Facebook. “Any information, even the smallest detail, could be valuable in this investigation.”

Police also released the name and a photo of a suspect in another shootout on the same campus four days earlier, which authorities do not believe related to Sunday’s.

A 19-year-old died on October 13 and another 16 was injured, police said.
