In his autobiography entitled “Pretty little story” which will be published on April 28, 2022, Louis Bertignac retraces his professional career and looks back on his many loves. At 68, the singer and former star of the group Telephone, puts his memoirs on paper and the memories and anecdotes are as crisp as cash.
If he speaks of his current wife Laëtitia, or of Corinne Marienneau with whom he was in a relationship for several years, he also obviously evokes his relationship with Carla Bruni. Louis Bertignac was indeed in a relationship with the former first lady, and their romance also started when she was a minor. “I hope she will forgive me for this confession” begins the artist in an interview with Paris Match before adding: “Our story lasted from 1986 to 1990 with ups and downs. It was never crazy about me, far from it…”.
“Without me, she would have sold 12 records”
He then explains that despite their breakup, they work together a few years later and it is he who will end up producing the first album of his ex-girlfriend: “When I made his record, twelve years later, the water flowed under the bridge. We had met again, she had gotten better as she got older. She wasn’t a bitch to me. I think she would have liked to fall in love with me because I was a rock guitarist in a known group but she didn’t believe in it more than that. Me, I knew that I was not in love with her. Which is even worse. But one thing is certain: she is not a housewife “explains Louis Bertignac with a smile on his face.
The singer then gives his opinion on the musical prowess of Carla Bruni: “She made me listen to models that I frankly found null. I came back to the essence of things: together we played the Stones acoustically, just with our vocals and our guitars. I offered to work on two tracks that way. It was wonderful. She loved it too and she asked me to do the whole album. Without me, she would have sold 12 records. “. That is what is said.
