La Nacioun Gardiano

Extract from its website:

“The vocation of the nacioun Gardiano, since its foundation, is to maintain and glorify the costume, customs and traditions of the country of Arles, the Camargue and the bullfighting countries, to continue the development of the language of Oc , to propagate the Felibrean doctrine contained in the work of Frédéric Mistral and his disciples (Article 1 of the Statutes).
It is intended to be one of the vectors of transmission of our culture.

Foundation of the Nacioun Gardiano

The first bases of the Nacioun Gardiano were established in the summer of 1904:
On April 4, 1904, Frédéric Mistral organized his second “Festo Vierginenco” and Folco de Baroncelli was won over by this celebration. He thinks he can be the catalyst for a major action. At the request of Mistral, he participates in the realization of the program by associating the herdsmen in these festivities (abrivado, present for the young girls taking the ribbon for the first time, running of the bulls, equestrian games …). Some time later, certain of being able to make his contribution to Mistral’s work, Baroncelli and some friends created the “Coumitat Vierginien”, on June 24, 1904, the day of St. Jean, at the farmhouse of Amarèu in Saintes Maries de the sea.”

Manage my choices

The singer Michel Maffrand, nicknamed Joan de Nadau, is the great winner of the big floral games of Félibrige in 2018. As such, it was up to him to choose the one who, for 7 years, would be the queen of Félibrige . Joan de Nadau chose a young woman a few kilometers from his home: Adeline Bascaules-Bedin.
