Loto-Québec is betting, according to the opinion, on a park “of approximately 8,300 terminals, of which 8,100 are in operation”. Management wishes to deploy its new systems to merchants gradually from 2023.
“In general, the lifespan of gaming terminals is estimated at 8 to 10 years and it becomes necessary to consider replacing them when they reach this age,” said Mr. Dugas.
“The aging of the terminal fleet leads to a drop in performance and an increase in maintenance and repair needs, which generates additional costs, in addition to facing a shortage of spare parts”, he said. added.
Loto-Québec says the pandemic has delayed this project. The state corporation ensures that all costs related to its purchases will be financed from its revenues.
During the first three quarters of 2021-2022, the lottery sector at Loto-Québec recorded record sales of $749 million.
