“Losc says stop and acts”. The day after its qualification for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France thanks to its victory against the Racing Club de France (1-0), the northern club showed its “indignation” in front of “discriminatory and hateful remarks” of his own supporters, in a press release. Lille evokes incidents “in the visitors’ stand of the Walter Luzi stadium in Chambly” who hosted the meeting and plans to file a complaint against X.
On the day of the match, Sunday, several Lille supporters themselves denounced the behavior of those who were next to them in the park. During the half-time challenge, allowing children to set foot on the pitch, “a nine-year-old guard was insulted as a dirty black man, accompanied by ‘go to the cotton field’reports a Lille supporter who has brought together several testimonials on his X account (formerly Twitter). In a press releasethe Dogues Pompon’s section has “firmly dissociated itself from the monsters who dared to mistreat a kid.” “When will this stop? When will football stadiums once again become this place of celebration, exchange and cultural mixing?”writes this group of supporters “family”.
“Losc has always condemned, condemns, and will always condemn acts of hatred and discrimination, however isolated they may be, without any leniency or naivety (…) Denouncing the acts and communicating indignation will unfortunately not be enough to protect our Club, our players and our supporters and to fight against these individuals who often take advantage of travel and outside stands to infiltrate among the supporters”writes the current 5th in the French championship.
One day after the insults towards Mike Maignan
A form has been set up on the club’s website so that testimonials can be sent to it. “We call on any Losc supporter who saw, heard or filmed racist acts or remarks last night at the Walter Luzi stadium to come forward to the club, so that they can be recontacted and confidentially supported in their testimony, with the club and where applicable, police authorities”writes the Ligue 1 club.
On Saturday, the former goalkeeper of the same Losc and current starter for the French team, Mike Maignan, was the target of racist insults in Italy, during Udinese-AC Milan. The meeting was then interrupted for several minutes. After the final whistle, the French Football Federation and Kylian Mbappé took up the pen to denounce these incidents which are still present in football stadiums.
