A Norris Trophy winner in 2016, the 32-year-old Ontarian has provided seven goals and 31 points this season in 39 games.
Doughty was injured March 7 in Boston. He has missed his last 16 games.
Los Angeles drafted him second overall in 2008.
The Kings battle Vegas for third in their division; otherwise, they would like to sneak into the playoffs via the additional spots.
The Kings have lost their last three games. They will play again Tuesday night in Chicago.
