Los Angeles Kings | Drew Doughty Undergoes Further Tests Related to Lower Body Injury

(El Segundo) Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is undergoing additional testing related to a lower-body injury suffered Wednesday during an exhibition game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Doughty injured his left leg while going against the boards in the first period in a sequence involving Tanner Pearson of the Golden Knights.

Doughty had a protective boot and a walker at the team complex Thursday.

Aged 34, Doughty completed 16 seasons with the Kings.

Drafted second overall in 2008, he helped the club win the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014.

Doughty finished second in ice time average in the National League last season (25:48).

The hockey player from London, Ontario led Kings defensemen with 15 goals and 50 points.

The Kings will play two preparatory games in Quebec next week.

They will face the Boston Bruins on October 3 and the Florida Panthers on October 5, at the Videotron Center.
