Looking for life on Jupiter’s moon

Unexpected consequence of Hurricane Milton which is heading towards Florida: the launch of Europa Clipper, a NASA probe which was to take off tomorrow, is postponed by a few weeks, until November 6.

This mission aims to determine whether Europa, one of Jupiter’s 95 moons, presents conditions favorable to life. We already know that there is water and the James Webb telescope spotted carbon dioxide (CO2) there last year coming from the ocean floor of this moon-ocean. The probe will carry out nearly 50 flybys there at altitudes as close as 25 km above its surface to scan almost its entirety and confirm the components of its frozen ocean.
