“Look elsewhere” by Aliose, an album between melancholy and poetry

In a few years the swiss duo Aliose has found a very personal place in the landscape of French-speaking pop songs. After many concerts in Switzerland and abroad, and several albums, they present today the last born, “Look elsewhere”.

An album that should have been released in 2020 but the health situation has changed the plans and the duo decided to postpone the publication of the latter. 2022 which also sees the launch of a brand new tour.

Alizé and Xavier assert their pronounced taste for a French song that has its roots in the 70s, influenced at a very young age by artists such as Maxime Le Forestier, Alain Souchon, Michel Polnareff, Michel Berger and even William Sheller. They also bathed in a more recent French-speaking scene, in which they draw part of their inspiration: -M-, Camille, Philippe Katerine, Benjamin Biolay, Tété, Jérémie Kisling, more recently Gaël Faye, Voyou or even Pomme are part of it .

And then they listened too many Anglo-Saxon pop artists. Examples include Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Ben Harper, Belle & Sebastian or The Cranberries. Or more recently Black Pumas, Agnès Obel, Feist, Angus & Julia Stones, Half Moon Run, Yaël Naïm or their compatriot Sophie Hunger.

And this diversity is felt in their music: Aliose’s titles combine the simplicity of real pop songs with a certain sophistication, and inspired texts, between melancholy, irony and hope. It is also vocally that the duo seduces us, with its softness, sensuality and virtuosity.
