On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 20 Hours teams are returning to the footsteps of this disastrous day, which marked the history of the United States.
When the presidential couple landed in Dallas (United States) that day, they came to seek the support of a city known to be conservative and which they did not like. Intelligence services have warned of possible threats from the far right. At the airport, the welcome is friendly. The president is going to make a decision that will have serious consequences. He asks that the Lincoln Continental remain with the top down and drive at low speed.
“His head exploded”
On the side of the road, the crowd is enthusiastic. But upon arriving in the heart of Dallas, shots ring out. The first misses its target. The second hit the American president in the back and throat. The third will be fatal to him. “I bent down and there… His head exploded”, says one of the witnesses. President Kennedy is taken to the hospital. The media interrupts their programs and announces his death. 60 years later, Dealey Plazathe scene of this assassination, has hardly changed.
