“The police officers of [Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL)] are on site to carry out a preventive evacuation of the establishment following threats received, ”said agent Jean-Pierre Voutsinos, from SPAL. “The evacuation is taking place calmly and no incident has been reported. »
Some 2,000 students and more than 250 staff members were evacuated, said his SPAL colleague François Boucher.
The Center de services scolaire Marie-Victorin (CSSMV) posted the same message on its Facebook page, adding that the school will therefore be closed for the day. “The school transport service will be moved ahead of the usual schedule, in order to allow students to return to their homes as quickly as possible”, it was specified.
“Terms and conditions regarding the recovery of personal effects left at school will also be communicated shortly” and “additional information will be provided as soon as possible concerning the evolution of the situation”, indicated the CSSMV.
There is “no indication” at this time that the threats received would be related to the events that led to the evacuation of other schools on the South Shore earlier this fall and in June, according to agent Boucher. “That will be to be determined,” he said.
