Longueuil | Operation leads to seizure of 55 kg of cocaine

A police operation carried out by the Sûreté du Québec in Longueuil on Tuesday led to the seizure of 55 kilograms of cocaine, a mountain of white powder whose value would amount to nearly a million and a half dollars.


The police carried out two searches targeting two residences and a luxury vehicle which was seized.

No less than 80 kg of “products used in the manufacture of drugs”, equipment used for trafficking, firearm ammunition and $5,000 were also seized by the police.

This operation stems from an investigation begun several months ago by the Organized Crime Investigation and Coordination Division of the Sûreté du Québec in Drummondville, it is specified in a press release issued Tuesday.

Around fifteen police officers and investigators from the Sûreté du Québec are still working on this operation, assisted by their colleagues from the Longueuil urban police service.

Last December, a kilogram of cocaine was trading at around $27,000, according to reports The Pressan extremely low price which indicates that the supply was then very strong in Montreal and Quebec.
