Laurent Dubreuil finally has it, his gold medal. After two silver medals last weekend, the defending 500-metre champion was the fastest skater in Heerenveen, Netherlands.
Unlike his race in Norway, Dubreuil had an excellent start. Especially since at his side, he faced his good friend Yuma Murakami, who is known for his explosive starts. Dubreuil trailed by only three tenths of a second.
He quickly made up for his slight delay and led the race to the end.
He edged his closest pursuer Wataru Morishige by a tenth of a second, completing the course in 34.34 seconds.
