He beat his own time of 34,099 seconds set on Friday at this competition. On Sunday, he crossed the finish line in 34,053 s, just 5 hundredths of a second behind gold medalist Wataru Morishige of Japan (33,997 s). Russian Artem Arefyev (34,003s) walked away with the silver medal.

This is therefore a second bronze medal for Dubreuil this weekend.

Laurent Dubreuil leads the general classification of the 500m event with 312 points. His closest pursuer, the Japanese Tatsuya Shinhama, has accumulated 286 so far.

Dubreuil and his compatriots Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu, Vincent de Haître and Connor Howe will race in the men’s 1000m event later this afternoon.

Among the women, the Ottavienne Ivanie Blondin got the best result of the Canadians in the 1500m, with a time of 1 min 53 096 s, good for the 13e position. Isabelle Weidemann (1 min 54 026 s) and Quebecer Valérie Maltais (1 min 55 352 s) respectively took the 15e and 20e ranks. Maltais nevertheless recorded a personal best in the distance.
