Nathaniel Veltman, accused of murdering four members of a Muslim family in London, Ontario, was found guilty Thursday of four counts of first-degree murder.
Jurors also found him guilty of attempted murder — a fifth family member was injured in the attack.
The jury began deliberating Wednesday evening, after receiving the judge’s final instructions, at the Windsor courthouse.
Veltman, 22, had pleaded not guilty to all charges.
We learned at the trial that Veltman had hit members of the Afzaal family who were walking in London with his van.
Salman Afzaal, 46, his 44-year-old wife Madiha Salman, their 15-year-old daughter Yumna and 74-year-old grandmother Talat Afzaal were killed. The couple’s nine-year-old son was seriously injured, but survived.
