“Régis Le Bris is appointed as coach for a three-year contract”said club president Loïc Féry at a press conference on Monday June 27, saying that Lorient was “at the end of a cycle” to explain this change. The day before, the Breton club had formalized the departure of Christophe Pelissier from the bench.

At 46, Régis Le Bris therefore takes control of a club of which he was coach of the reserve team and manager of the training center. He succeeds Christophe Pélissier, dismissed after a disappointing season for the Bretons (16th in the final standings).

Loïc Féry said he was very satisfied with this appointment on the club’s official website: “A new page in the history of FC Lorient opens today with the appointment of Régis Le Bris. By entrusting the professional team to a man from the house who embodies the formative DNA of the club and a spirit of creative play, we are making an identity choice. Régis has been at the club since 2012, he knows the Merlus perfectly.”

And to continue: “Through his results with the academy and with the reserve team, he has shown that he knows how to unite energies, reveal talents, and combine daring with performance. Next season promises to be heavy with challenges , as well as the following: the Ligue 1 championship is becoming more demanding and I want to believe that we will meet the challenges by defending our values and offering pleasure to all lovers of the club”.

Still at a press conference, Loïc Fery also refuted the idea of taking a risk by enacting the former Stade Rennes player: “I don’t like the term bet. Régis Le Bris, it’s not a bet, it’s a decision. It’s a season with four runs, which can seem like the season of all dangers. But there will be descents in the following years too.”
