Lockout at RONA Anjou warehouse

Employees of the RONA Galeries d’Anjou warehouse were prevented from returning to work last Saturday following a BBQ organized outside at lunchtime to support their wage demands.

The employer closed the doors of the store, which has not reopened since. Around a hundred employees are affected by this lockout, said union spokesperson Serge Monette, of the Fédération du commerce affiliated to the CSN.

After around ten negotiation sessions and several meetings with a conciliator, no progress has been made, according to him. Wages are at the heart of this blockage and the gap between employer offers and union members’ demands is significant. “The workers are disgusted,” he said. 98% of union members had recently voted to have a bank of five strike days.

The store is currently closed, says the telephone message from the company, which did not respond to questions from The Press.
