A giant rose-shaped coral reef has been discovered off the coast of Tahiti. Residents fear the site will be endangered by onlookers.

It is a very rare find according to UNESCO heritage, a giant rose-shaped coral reef. This reef is 3 kilometers long and in excellent condition. Flat, it is threatened by climate change, and this discovery is debated. Indeed, for the locals, the word “discovery” has not passed.

“I live right in front of the spot, and I’ve been fishing there since I was a kid. When they came, they didn’t even say hello, they didn’t ask questions even though we’ve been here a long time”plague a Dell Lamartinière, resident. On the preserved site, divers and fishermen get along perfectly. A fragile cohabitation that Dell Lamartinière fears will disappear with the influx of potential new divers. Controversy wellThis is derisory in the face of the real threat hanging over the reef threatened by climate change.
