The end for lachapelle atelier

After Annie 50, Sokoloff Lingerie and Segsea, lachapelle atelier is added to the list of missing local fashion in 2023. Founded in 2019 by Viviane Lachapelle, the inclusive fashion brand will launch a final capsule collection on December 9, during a festive event open to the public. “I am closing the chapel out of a desire to live my life more freely. Entrepreneurship is difficult, especially in local fashion. It’s like a big loss, a big heartache,” says Viviane Lachapelle. “It’s an adventure that I could continue because it was still going well, but I was compromising too much for the happiness I was getting from it. I wanted to end on a good note before I was completely exhausted. »

Designed on large bodies to accentuate and embrace curves, lachapelle atelier’s clothing has helped raise the standards of inclusiveness in Quebec fashion. “I am proud to have made inclusiveness known without naming it in an obvious way,” says the entrepreneur who does not yet know what the future holds for her.

Although his brand managed to do well, competition from major brands was increasingly difficult. “It’s a good thing that you can now find large varieties in big stores, like H&M, but it stifled me. I can’t accept that. My prices were as low as possible. I no longer have the enthusiasm I had at the beginning to convince people to buy local. »

To close this chapter in a festive way, Lachapelle will hold this Saturday at White Wall Studio, in the same place where its first collection was unveiled, a festive evening with DJ, exhibition of works by Denise Lachapelle, mother of Viviane, screening of a video produced by Caraz and sale of prints of a work by Chien Champion and clothing. For the occasion, the brand’s most popular pieces, the Lolo dress and the Martin shirt, were produced in different colors. Sweaters and caps bearing the image of Lachapelle will also be offered, as well as a version for children. The company plans to offer unsold merchandise online, then hold a closing sale in January in its Vieux-Longueuil store.

Refined woodiness in his beard

The new Atlas beard oil features a classic perfumery accord.

Taking inspiration from compositions specific to perfumery is one of the major trends of the moment, and to underline its 10e anniversary, Montreal-based Groom (specializing in hair products for men) presents a new fragrance accord for its beard oil. Called Atlas, it presents an alloy of cypress, geranium, vetiver and bitter orange; a great olfactory classic that has proven itself over time. While the brand’s original oil already had a very distinctive woody scent, this variation is just as attractive for fans of this range of notes. Like its big sister, Atlas oil is quickly absorbed and not very greasy. Please note, it is offered in a limited edition until the end of the year!
