Since the start of the season, the Trois-Rivières Lions have signed an impressive total of 62 players due to injuries, cases of COVID-19 and recalls to the American Hockey League (AHL). To cope with all these absences, the general manager of the team, Marc-André Bergeron, notably called on 22 players from the North American Hockey League (LNAH). However, with the new measurement adopted by this circuit, this number may not climb again.

Indeed, according to information obtained by Le Nouvelliste, the LNAH now has a rule which states that, as of February 17, every player under contract on its circuit will now be suspended for a year and a half if they agree with the Lions or any other formation of the ECHL League. Reservists under LNAH contract who play in senior AAA are also subject to this regulation. This rule was to apply from January 25, but with COVID-19, the circuit had postponed the effective date of this suspension by a few weeks.
