Accused of sexual harassment by three dancers who took part in her 2022 tour, American singer Lizzo indicated last Friday on social networks that she was abandoning the musical industry.
“I can no longer stand being dragged through the mud by the people around me, whether in my life or on the internet,” she wrote in an Instagram post. All I want to do is make music, make people happy and help make the world a little bit better. But I’m starting to think that this world doesn’t want to see me in it. »
The singer does not refer to the two legal proceedings brought against her last year by three dancers who took part in her 2022 tour, but speaks of the “lies” which are constantly circulating against her. She deplores being the target of bad jokes “related to my appearance”, as well as criticism from people “who don’t know me and who disrespect me”.
“I didn’t sign up for this shit,” she concluded, “I’m giving up!” », adding an emoji with a peace sign.
