Villarreal looked on course after taking a two-goal lead in the first half to reverse their 2-0 loss to England, but the Spanish club couldn’t stay the course.
Liverpool closed the gap and prevailed 5-2 on aggregate.
After Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin gave Villarreal the lead in the 41and minute, Fabinho, reserve Luis Díaz and Sadio Mané scored in the second half.
Liverpool advanced to the final for the first time since 2019, when the team won their sixth European title.
Based in a town of 50,000 in southern Spain, Villarreal knocked out Juventus in the round of 16 and Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
Unai Emery’s side played short of a man from the 86and minute: Étienne Capoue, accomplice of his two goals, was sent off due to a second yellow card.
Liverpool will play the final on May 28 in Paris against Manchester City or Real Madrid, crowned 13 times in the Champions League.
Man City and Real Madrid will face off in Madrid on Wednesday. The English outfit won 4-3 at home.
